Filmmaking is my way down the rabbit hole,my films are my looking glass. I love the creative power that comes from black ink on white paper to the ultimate performance captured in the moment of film. My core knowledge of filmmaking started on stage studying theatre at Parkland Community College. During those core theatre courses my knowledge and interest grew from acting into lighting, directing, and makeup. After completing three years at Parkland Community College I decided to continue my education at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale and switch to a Cinema major. At Southern I took classes studying the structure of filmmaking and film theory and two production classes. During those production courses I was also able to learn how to create and execute stories 8mm and 16mm film. While shooting films for those classes I was able to use my skills of directing, lighting, and make up from the theatre to film giving my films a different and more dimensional look than other student films. I created my first short film in the spring of 2007 during my last semester at Parkland College. That film, Attack of the EmoZombies, was widely distributed amongst my friends, other interested community members of Champaign, Illinois and distributed the film online also. Attack of the EmoZombies would be what I would call my block buster due to the on going popularity the film has with the public with copies still be sold. I believe the reasoning behind this would be the audience connection with the comedic take on the increase of the Emo fad in the recent years. I My second short film, The Teaparty Massacre, was shot on Super 8mm. That film went on to become a Master of Macabre winner on projectbreakout dot com and was shown during the Universal Studios Theme Park Halloween Nights. The film was about two dolls that come to life and attack their owner. My third film, With Me Now, was shot the following year on 16mm . It was about a relationship between a coroner and the dead body he is forming an autopsy for as he tries to figure out how and why she was murdered. My fourth film, Barrel of My Gun, was shot during the summer of 2009 opened at a local venue in Champaign, IL with a huge community support audience. Barrel of My Gun's opening premiere was covered by several media sources including CU the Central Illinois best local film magazine. The film was about a mafia hit man who goes after his mob boss when his girlfriend ends up missing. My films always have a sort of uniqueness to them like having a long take some where in the middle of the film or have a unique lighting or makeup situation in it so that I can feel accomplished with the final project. I always try and leave a lasting impression upon my viewers. Hopefully I can leave them with an impression that they will be able to remember my favorably.
